Those who desire to change E Pluribus Unum—Out of Many, One—to Divide and They Will Submit, may have taken their plans one step too far. I must admit that I was getting discouraged. Turmoil erupted in city after city. Hate-filled signs and graffiti were impossible to ignore. High-end retail stores to mom-and-pop businesses were looted, trashed, and burned. All crime rose to unprecedented levels.
And it seemed there was nothing anyone could or would do. That has changed.
Was it as the old idiom, “the straw that broke the camel’s back”? Or was it the direct attack on people’s character, their faith, their very nature that was intolerable? Something happened—that last straw. Individuals, and groups, and even states rebelled. Critical Race Theory (CRT) was intended to be the element that divided our country so completely that Socialism could walk in and take over. There would be so much animosity and loathing between all Americans that we wouldn’t even notice. Or care.
It was such a well-conceived plan. Teach our kids to judge who they liked and didn’t like by the color of their skin. Parents seldom know a lot about the curricula. They wouldn’t even know it was happening. When kids had that idea reinforced in every course at every level of instruction, it would be with them forever.
But the parents found out.
They introduced the Critical Race Theory instruction into military training. But President Trump found out.
After a year of exhausting classes under less-than-desirable circumstances, CRT was scheduled to take the time and place of what? Math? English? History? But teachers found out.
And what happened?
Moms attended school board meetings and voiced strong repulsion for CRT, and demanded it be stopped.
Dads pulled their kids out of schools when they would not stop teaching CRT.
President Trump issued an executive order banning federal contractors from conducting CRT training. He would not permit “efforts to indoctrinate government employees with divisive and harmful sex- and race-based ideologies.”
One senator introduced a bill to ban controversial Critical Race Theory courses from being taught in the United States Military.
A gym teacher told the school board that he would not “affirm that a biological boy can be a girl and vice versa.” He said, “I am speaking out of love for those who are suffering from gender dysphoria. I’m a teacher, but I serve God first, and I will not affirm that a biological boy can be a girl and vice versa because it’s against my religion.”
Another teacher appeared on television and said, “These children are the future of this country. And if you love this country, you will do anything and everything to stand up for the vulnerable population and that is our children. . . . They cannot stand up for themselves. They cannot speak for themselves. They fear retaliation. It’s up to us adults, parents, and teachers alike to come together and speak up for them for the sake of this country.”
Fifteen states have either banned or are in the process of banning the teaching of Critical Race Theory and The 1619 Project.
This all reminds me of an old song, “Just One Voice” written by Barry Manilow.
Just one voice
Singing in the darkness
All it takes is one voice
Singing so they hear what’s on your mind
And when you look around you’ll find
There’s more than one voice
Singing in the darkness
Joining with your one voice
Each and every note or another octave
Hands are joined and fears unlocked
If only one voice would start it on it’s own
We need just one voice facing the unknown
And then that one voice would never be alone
It takes that one voice…
Just one voice
Singing in the darkness
All it takes is one voice
Shout it out and let it ring…
Just one voice
It takes that one voice
And everyone will sing…
If you have ever thought, “I don’t like what is happening, but there is nothing I can do. I’m just one voice,” I urge you to think again. Yours may be just the voice that is needed to make everyone sing.
