My last post had information about the Satanic Temple holding a convention in Scottsdale, AZ. It starts today, and I thought I’d go back to what initiated this convention. It’s part of the “good news.” I didn’t want to make the last post any longer than it already was.
Back in 2016, the Satanic temple wanted to make the invocation at the regular meeting of the Scottsdale city council. The city council said, “no.”
That was GOOD NEWS!
Then the Satanic Temple sued the city, claiming religious discrimination. It lost. They didn’t take the lawsuit any further.
That was GOOD NEWS!
The Satanic Temple decided to “get back” at city hall and hold a Satanic Temple conference in Scottsdale. They say this will be the world’s largest Satanic conference and are even trying to get the Guinness Book of World Records to recognize it as such. In a rather snarky comment, the organizer of the conference said:
As the city is recognized for its contribution to the Satanic community and becomes a spiritual hub for those who venerate a literary interpretation of Satan, residents will have Mayor Jim Lane to thank. As hundreds of Satanists descend on Scottdale, residents will be able to learn more about our faith than they would have if the city had just accepted our petition to deliver an invocation. . . . From this day on, when people hear of Scottsdale, they will immediately think of Satan. (Emphasis mine.)
We’ll see about that! Just so you can wrap your head around this “world’s largest conference,” Scottsdale has a population of over 241,000. The metropolitan area of Phoenix, AZ, of which Scottsdale is a suburb, has a population of 4.85 million. (All populations as of 2020.) About 350 people are expected to attend this conference.
Let’s step away from the Satanic Temple. Mask mandates are being revoked in state after state. You can find a list of all states with the latest updates on their regulations here.
That is GOOD NEWS
High school students across the country are peacefully protesting wearing masks in class, telling students to be polite, say “No, thank you,” and quietly go home if suspended.
“This is not an excuse for any freshmen or sophomores to disrespect their teachers,” said the student in the video, who has not been identified. “We want this to be a peaceful, respectful movement — we are just trying to gain back our rights as citizens.”
That is GOOD NEWS!
According to the CDC, “COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations are continuing to decline across the United States. As of February 2, 2022, cases are down 53.1% from their peak on January 15.”
That is GOOD NEWS!
I could go on. Good news abounds. But I already see smiles on your faces. You can look around for more good news yourselves.
