REFUSE HATE—REJECT WOKE

Tyler Perry

I do not watch the Academy Awards. I do not like what they encourage and support. However, this year’s Awards made it into the news in a way that caught my attention. The Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award was presented to Tyler Perry. In his acceptance speech, he made a statement that was sufficiently surprising to make headlines. Contradicting all the Woke and critical race theory utterances, Perry said,

My mother taught me to refuse hate. She taught me to refuse blanket judgment. And in this time, with all of the internet and social media and algorithms and everything that wants us to think a certain way, the 24-hour news cycle, it is my hope that all of us would teach our kids, and I want to remember just refuse hate, don’t hate anybody. Don’t hate anybody.

So to all the Woke advocates who endorse hatred of our country, capitalism, being born with white skin, and generally anything that represents a positive and beautiful spirit, I urge you to listen to Tyler Perry’s mother—refuse hate

Parents, I urge you to refuse to permit your children to be taught racial prejudice in any subject in school. Some math classes teach that it is inherently racist because (up to now) math has been taught that there is a “correct” answer to a problem. 2+2=4, except if you don’t get it right it may be because of the color of your skin. How insulting that is to tell children they aren’t expected to be able to solve the problem because they were born with black or brown skin!

Santa Monica High School has students organize and carry out “a systemized campaign” for social justice that they then must teach to middle school students.

Environmental Charter High School assigns the writing of what they call a “breakup letter.” The infatuation or love that they must disclaim should be a form of oppression. Among the oppression options are toxic masculinity and heteronormativity.

Those pushing such ethnic studies classes are trying to make them compulsory and a high school graduation requirement. If they accomplish that, it means you will not be able to have your kids opt out of such malignant material. The time to stop it is now. Parents across the country must take action.

I just read on fee.org (Foundation for Economic Education)

that President Biden’s administration recently proposed to use money from taxpayers to fund millions of dollars for grants to schools with American history and civics classes that prioritize critical race theory.

As a counter-measure, the governor of Idaho recently signed into law a bill that prevents critical race theory from being taught in state public schools and universities. It advocates that everyone “respect the dignity of others, acknowledge the right of others to express differing opinions, and foster and defend intellectual honesty, freedom of inquiry and instruction, and freedom of speech and association.” It also prohibits teaching that “individuals, by virtue of sex, race, ethnicity, religion, color, or national origin, are inherently responsible for actions committed in the past by other members of the same sex, race, ethnicity, religion, color, or national origin.” Whether the state should govern what is taught in public schools may be up for debate. What if this law required teaching the theory of white supremacism?

Now parents must decide whether they care what is being taught to their children. If they do, then they must make it a priority to find out what is being taught, and possibly, who is teaching and how it is being taught. Perhaps the best way is to advocate for school choice, and let parents investigate what a school is teaching before giving them the money. Whatever the courses, make sure they follow Tyler Perry’s request to refuse hate.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. . . . And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7,13.
