It seems that there are those in the world who consider themselves so intelligent that they have the right—no, not only the right but the obligation—to tell the rest of us how we must live our lives.
One of those demands they are making of us is eliminating the use of fossil fuel. And, in case you haven’t noticed, our vehicles run on that horrendous stuff. What are we to do? Switch to electric vehicles, commonly referred to as EVs. Well . . . that’s a bit of a problem. Let’s look reality in the face.
An article on CFACT.org titled “Where’s the electricity?” tells us that if you totaled all the vehicles running about on the roads of this world in 2022, you’d find there were about 1.446 Billion! Yes, I meant to use the “B”. Can you guess how many were electric? There were only about 12 million. Million—with an “M”. Okay, being factual, that 12 million number was from 2021, so maybe add in a few more to compare with the almost one-and-a-half Billion in 2022. That still would mean that less than one percent of all the cars, and trucks, and buses, and whatevers were using electricity to get around. And that is after fifteen years of beating the drums about the wonderful benefits of EVs.
That article goes on to call our attention to the results of this years-long promotion:
-
During a Texas heat wave in July, 2022, Tesla asked its customers to avoid charging their cars at peak times.
-
During a California heat wave in September, 2022, Governor Newsom, the same guy that wants to ban the sale of gasoline cars after 2035, asked owners not to charge their EV batteries.
-
Sweden’s new government has abolished state subsidies for electric cars and plug-in hybrids.
-
The UK is ahead of most of the world, protecting its electrical grid with Smart Chargers, and setting up Separate Meters for the EV charging users to pay for a new grid! [The bold underlined words in this sentence are not links, but are as used in original print.]
Let’s put a little more meat on those bones. After a terrible winter when Texas’ windmills designed to produce electricity froze to a standstill, summer heat waves caused Tesla to implore the Tesla car (EVs) owners not to charge their batteries between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Governor Newson of California asked owners of EVs not to charge their batteries during a heat wave in September, 2022, in spite of the fact that California has the largest solar farm in the U.S. (It was the largest in the world in June, 2015.) Named “Solar Start,” it has 1.7 million solar panels covering an area that is almost as large as 142 football fields. Nevertheless, they couldn’t charge their EVs.
That’s just a sample of what is happening in the United States. But the problem is worldwide.
Sweden lured people to buy EVs with subsidies and then abolished those subsidies without warning on November 8, 2022. They claimed subsidies were no longer necessary to encourage the purchase of EVs. The Swedes are truly committed to the climate change agenda. They have already closed their last coal plant.
The UK has protected its electrical grid with what is called Smart Systems. They say “Smart meters, technologies, tariffs and services will enable consumers to change their consumption patterns to match times of cheap and abundant low carbon electricity, give consumers greater control over their energy use and save money by helping to balance the energy system.” The part I’ve italicized is important. Read it again. “enable consumers to change their consumption patterns to match time of cheap and abundant low carbon electricity.” It really says that they won’t use electricity when they want to use it or when they need to use it, they will be forced by high prices during selected periods to use electricity when it is the cheapest.
Oh, there is another benefit to these Smart systems. If you don’t have any electricity getting to your home, or it is too expensive to use at that time, you will be able to suck it out of your car battery. Never mind that when that source is depleted you won’t have any electricity to use, nor a car to take you away. Sound good?
Please give your kids advance knowledge about the alarmist views of climate change that they will be taught in school. Yes, the climate is changing. It has since the world was created. It will continue to change. But God is and always will be in control. Analyze what is happening and decide for yourself why this global push for such radical change in the way we live is important.
